FILTHY DOG DECALS – HOW IT BEGAN

Like a lot of us, we have always been so frustrated with the classic VTNZ type rego pouch. You know the one.. Bright orange eye touching advert, the sadly drooping torn corners, then the eventual crumbly mess left behind. For something that is in plain sight and that is compulsory for New Zealand vehicles why can’t we have something that actually suits our vehicle, something that doesn’t look disgusting? And at least, why can’t we have something that does its job without tearing and falling to pieces?!

These are all the things that came to mind when we bought a new car recently. We collected the car from the compliance centre and the last thing it needed was it’s vehicle licence and plates. From there we headed over to VTNZ to get our rego and plates which I we ended up with a fairly pleasant surprise. The random plates we were issued were so good it was almost like they were personalised plates, but without the cost! Then they handed us the complementary pouch to display my rego… Our car is jet black and in very good condition. I was not about to slap this bright orange sticker onto the window.

This sparked some creativity in us. We decided to make our own rego pouch to suit our car and give it that final touch it needed. It turns out you need to order quite a few of these pouches to make it anywhere near worth your while. So I turned to my local Facebook vehicle enthusiast group and asked if anyone was interested in pooling money together to get us all these pouches. I had a massive response!

THE FUTURE IS NOW

The response was so big that now in 2020 we have launched Filthy Dog Decals! We now have hundreds of designs available and we are constantly creating new artwork with fresh in-house ideas. Filthy Dog has it’s own self-managed web store here at www.FilthyDog.co.nz but also in the background we are also always researching and developing new products. New products to look out for on the horizon will include items such as number plate frames, WOF overlays, service stickers, and all sorts of awesome unique decals and accessories.
